Oman Air and Gulf Air, the smaller Gulf carriers as a first job?

#1 Both recruit regularly and seem less competitive than the big three. Is starting there a good idea, and does it help later applications to Emirates or Qatar?

#2 Good idea for the experience, a year of Gulf flying is exactly what Emirates and Qatar assessors like to see, and Muscat and Bahrain are pleasant, calm bases with housing provided. Packages are smaller. Several QR colleagues started at Oman Air.
