Gulf to home country move: how I went from Etihad to Qantas

#1 Asked weekly so here it is. Four years at Etihad, then applied to Qantas international as an Australian citizen. My Gulf experience was a big plus at the assessment. The differences after moving: union, enterprise agreement, days off patterns, taxed salary, no housing. The savings I made in Abu Dhabi were the deposit on a flat in Perth. If you are from Australia, Canada, the UK, this is a very normal career shape: Gulf first, home carrier later.

#2 Same shape as mine, different airlines. The Gulf years are the savings years, the home carrier years are the life years.

#3 Spanish equivalent would be Emirates then Iberia I suppose. Filing this away for year four.
