Criminal record check, a minor offence from ten years ago, will it end my application?

#1 Asked by a nephew and I promised to ask here anonymously. A caution for something minor at 18, now 28, clean since. He wants Ryanair or Aer Lingus. Does the airside pass check block him?

#2 Depends on the country and the offence. For the airside ID in Ireland and the UK there is a criminal record check going back years, and minor spent matters often pass, but he must declare it. Not declaring and being found is the thing that ends it. Tell him to be honest on the form and it will most likely be fine.

#3 Colleague at Gatwick had a similar situation, declared it, got the pass with a small delay. Honesty on the form is the whole answer.
