Qatar Airways housing in Doha, rooms, curfew rules, and what the flats are really like

Housing questions come up daily, so here's the honest picture from someone in it:

    • Company accommodation, shared apartment, own bedroom with an ensuite in most newer buildings.
    • Buildings have a gym, pool, sometimes a small shop. Transport to the airport is provided by shuttle.
    • Rules on guests exist and are enforced; treat it like a very nice university residence rather than your own flat.
    • After a few years you may move to a housing allowance and rent your own place.

Doha is quiet compared to Dubai, which some love (savings) and some find hard (weekends). Know which one you are.

Fair and accurate. The savings point is the big one: with housing, transport and tax-free pay, my net savings in Doha beat what friends on higher gross salaries in Europe manage.

How strict is the guest policy in practice? Family visiting for a week, for example?

Family visits are possible with prior registration and there are limits on duration and on overnight guests. Ask HR at joining for the current policy, it has changed over the years, so don't rely on old blog posts.
