Crew discount
Reduced hotel, travel and retail rates available to airline crew on proof of employment — separate from staff travel on your own airline.
Definition
Crew discounts are the reduced rates hotels, car-hire firms, airlines, attractions and retailers offer to airline employees on production of a crew ID or a verified staff email. They sit alongside, and are distinct from, staff travel on your own airline: interline and ID90 fares on other carriers, crew rates at layover hotel chains, and industry platforms that verify your status and list the deals. Some are negotiated by the airline, most by third parties.
What it means for you
Used well, discounts are a meaningful addition to a modest basic salary — a crew rate at a hotel chain you already stay at, standby fares that make a week away cost a fraction of the public price, and gym or phone plans priced for the industry. The trade-off is uncertainty: standby travel means no seat guarantee, and every rate requires the same ID that ties the perk to the job. The discounts page on this site collects the platforms crew actually use.
In practice
Emirates crew fly concessional staff travel on Emirates plus ID90 interline tickets on partner airlines; platforms such as ID90Travel, StaffTraveler and myIDTravel verify employment and list crew hotel rates and standby fares.
